Adjusting Columns
Table of Contents
Reduce the number of action grid columns or rearrange them into configurations that are more relevant to your work. Save configurations to MyViews to be recalled instantly whenever you need to re-apply them.
Default action grids include a lot more information than you may need for performing your work. Maybe your data is scattered across the grid or placed in the wrong order. You can navigate to your data using Horizontal Scrolling or Panels, but how do you deal with extra columns? In ViewPoint Logistics you have the option via the action grid eature to reduce and/or rearrange columns into configurations that are more relevant to your work.
The button is accessed via Preferences on the action grid Tab Bar. It provides the means to adjust action grid columns on the fly. You can then save the configuration to a View in MyViews.
Reducing Columns. An operator can easily reduce the number of columns displayed in an action grid. For example, you may choose to create a rendition of the Inbounds-WIP action grid that displays only the quantities that are associated with inbound transactions. Click to enlarge:
Rearranging Columns. You can also rearrange your columns (and panels) into a completely different sequence across the grid.
Modifying Column Configuration
To change aspects of the currently-applied column configuration in an action grid, open the Preferences tab, then click . This launches the Columns editor, which lists (on the left) all of the columns/panels that are available, and (on the right) the columns/panels selected for the current configuration:
Selecting Items. Select and drag items from the list of available columns/panels (on the left) over to the selected list (on the right). Use the button to include all columns/panels. Hold down the Shift key to select a range of items. To select multiple (but not consecutive) items, hold down the Ctrl key while clicking on various items in the list.
Rearranging Items. You have the option to rearrange the order of column/panel names once they are copied to the selected list.
Locked Columns. Red column names indicate that they are always required for a column configuration. These columns are locked and cannot be moved or removed by the user.
Adding Panels. Panel names are listed in Green. You can select and drag existing panels from the list or add your own panel names. To create a new panel name, select a column in list, then click the button. Your new panel will be inserted just above the selected column name.
Starting Panel. All renditions must include a starting panel (after the locked columns). If you try to save your rendition without a starting panel, the system will insert one for you. The system-generated panel will be named "Default", but you have the option to replace this panel name using the option (see Modifying Columns below).
Applying the Changes. Click to apply the selected columns and configuration. This launches a popup warning that confirmation of the changes will clear all existing settings including all filters and sorts. Clicking the
button will change the columns immediately.
Warning: Making any changes to columns will remove all previous filtering and sorts. Be sure to adjust your columns to the way you want them before you decide to apply any filtering. For more information on this subject, see Order Rules for Settings.
Resetting to Earlier Configuration
If you would like to return the action grid back to its previous state before you made changes to the columns, click the button on the Information Bar at the bottom of the action grid. Select the
button to reset to the last view settings, including column configuration. If you would like to return to "factory defaults" select
