Goods transported by Carriers often must be identified by the official National Motor Freight Class code recognized by the industry, for purposes of rating, etc. This program allows you to set up these NMFC codes so that you can assign them to the individual Products in your Inventory.

Usage

Use this job to set up the National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) codes required to identify Client goods for rating by your Carriers.

Each Bill of Lading produced by the system is summarized by NMFC code. Several shipped Items on the Bill of Lading may group under one NMFC code.

The program will update the Freight Classification file after formatting the NMFC code, by converting and prefixing it to the first line; e.g.,

Preconditions

Make sure you have an up-to-date list of NMFC codes.

Subsequent Actions

The NMFC code is assigned to Products in Field 15 (NMFC Code) of program CR.62 [Client's Inventory Products].
