Business Benefits

Though the computer performs a significant number of functions, the Warehouse people are also vital to the smooth operation of the business. At various points in the operation, it may be important to inform the Warehouse staff about some condition or event. This program allows you to set up a variety of Messages to be presented by the computer to the staff when appropriate.

Usage

Use this job to define hazards, warnings or other types of messages; i.e., codes which may be attached to any Inventory Product and will trigger the printing of the Message on the Bill of Lading; the Message will print after each product line.

Other messages to be displayed or printed at specified times may include:

  • Standard Message to print on every Bill of Lading or Warehouse Receipt for a particular Client.
  • Standard Message to be displayed to an Operator prior to the commencement of an Inbound Order for a Client. The Message might include such things as . unusual receiving requirements, . rating, or anything that the Operator might not otherwise remember.
  • Standard Message to be displayed to an Operator prior to preparation of an Outbound Order for a particular Client.

These Message codes are referenced in program CR.18 [Client Arrangements].

Note: The optional Hazardous Materials (HM) system provides more in-depth Hazard information and stock handling instructions.

Preconditions

Client codes must have been set up in program CR.06 [Client Names and Addresses].

Subsequent Actions

The Message codes are referenced in Fields 46 to 49 of program CR.18 [Client Arrangements]: Fields 46 and 47 for Order entry, and Fields 48 and 49 for Receipt entry.
