Business Benefits
There may be situations in which a Client wants to separate the Product codes into distinct sections (e.g., prefix, base, suffix). When entering such a Product code, the operator would enter each segment separately, rather than the entire Product code (which might be as long as 30 characters).
Similarly, some (or all) reports for this Client's Products might need to sort the Products by one or more of the segments (e.g., in sequence by 'base').
This exercise may also be useful in decreasing the keystrokes required to enter a large Product code that may be divided by data that remains constant (such as a hyphen (-)). The system automatically adds the separator data, so that the user needs to enter only the segment data when setting up Product codes.
This program allows you to define Product Format codes that can subsequently be assigned to a specific Client's Products for this purpose.

Usage
Use this job to set up Product Format codes, subdividing Product codes into distinct segments for entry and reporting purposes.
Preconditions
Confirm with your Client the number of segments and the associated parameters required for the Product code separation.
Subsequent Actions
The Product Format code may be assigned to a particular Client's Products in Field 12.1 (Product Format Code) of program CR.18 [Client Arrangements].
