HighViews are browser-based applications that harness the functionality of multiple 3PL activities and reports within a common visualization environment. Each focuses on different aspects of your data, whether it is loaded from historical sources or newly generated.

Access to your work is accomplished in real-time via one or more Action Grids, spreadsheet-style utilities designed for organizing, analyzing, and manipulating large quantities of 3PL data.

Not only do HighViews display information about your on-going operations they provide a central location for performing tasks. For example, the WMS Work in Process HighView (above) represents multiple categories of activities, resources, and demands currently in play on the warehouse floor ... each presented in their own action grid.

A single HighView page can therefore display up-to-the-minute information about everything that is pending or completed (coming in or shipping out). For 3PL service providers, they also provide direct access to the WMS, TMS, or FMS applications that were used to generate that information.

Accessing HighViews

HighViews are organized according to the source of the data and the applications associated with them. They may be accessed from various places in the VL Workspace. Also, "single-purpose" HighViews (associated with a specific action grid) may be invoked directly via OneClicks and listed as menu items in MyFavorites.

The HighViews system menu provides a list all of the HighViews that are available to you based on your site/operator profile:

Displaying Action Grids

When you first open a HighView, it will display the default action grid currently associated with that HighView. If the HighView contains more than one action grid, you can switch to a different one using the selector buttons at the top of the page . The variety of action grids available will depend on the data and tasks defined for a given HighView.

Each action grid includes a set of buttons and controls that allow you to perform a variety of tasks on the displayed information, including query, data selection, sorting, and filtering. For documentation on the display and manipulation of data in an action grid, refer to the Action Grids topic in this documentation.

Opening Multiple HighViews

The browser-based interface lets you have multiple HighViews open in different tabs at the same time. Each time you select a HighView or Shortcut from the main Menu Page, the associated HighView will open in a new tab. Consider some of the benefits to this flexibility:

  • Depending on your site/operator profile, you will be able to access data from different sources (each from a completely different campus) while logged in to the same session.
  • You can open different HighViews in different tabs, but you can also open the same HighView multiple times.
  • Keep one HighView open for taking action on specific data ... open a second instance of that HighView (set to Auto-Refresh) to track real-time updates of the same data.
  • If you are equipped with dual monitors (or a wide screen), you can even launch multiple instances of your browser sessions to display multiple HighViews at the same time.
