Business Benefits

Preparing picked goods for shipment may include packing, verification that each item is part of the order and the printing of labels to attach to the packed cartons.

This program allows you to identify the Client, Warehouse, and Product for which a Packer must perform some/all of the above tasks to ensure that the correct stock is shipped.

Usage

This job is used to to identify whether some/all of the following tasks need to be performed prior to and during Packing for specific/all Clients, Warehouses and Products.

  • If RF Picking MUST be performed before RF Packing
  • When an Order may be Packed (e.g. it must have a specific and current Order status)
  • Whether the weight of each packed Carton must be recorded
  • If the Product Code (e.g. UPC - Universal Product Code) must be scanned for EACH PIECE of stock that is packed
  • Set the default action to pack "Master Pack"cartons (i.e. system ensures a specific quantity of a product is placed into a carton)

Preconditions

The following tasks are typically performed prior to defining Packing parameters for Clients/Products/Warehouses.

RF.99 [R.F. System Parameters]

Active all/specific Warehouses for RF use

RF.91 [R.F. Operators]

Indicate which RF tasks may be performed by a User

RF.93 [Unallocated Picking - Set-Ups]

Optionally configure the Unallocated Picking options for specific Clients/Products

Subsequent Actions

The following set-ups are typically defined next.

RF.57 [Packing Charges Configuration] (Optional)

Identify charges that may be attached to an Order during RF Packing

RF.96 [Client and Product Parameters]

Indicate the Default Shipment Conveyance Object (i.e., Type/Class) that will be used for the Cartons being packed

Field # 9 - Packing Shipment Conveyance Object

Shipment Conveyance Objects are defined with the task CR.11 [Conveyances] - Option # 1
