Drill Downs "Drilling Up"

Some action grids include "data elements" that are displayed in italicized magenta. This type of cell is actually a hyperlink, and it provides instant access (a "drill down") to other action grids that contain data related to the record selected. The hyperlink approach allows operators to navigate complex information that is logically connected but cannot be shown effectively within a single action grid; e.g., inventory details, products, serial numbers, etc.drilldown drillup drill up drill-down hyper-link

Click on the hyperlinked cell to invoke the associated action grid (usually indicated by the column title).

When a hyperlink is activated, the destination grid appears in place of the source grid. The transition from one action grid to the next should be obvious, as the column titles (and data) in the grid changes to reflect the details you requested. Also, the heading above the new action grid begins with the word "Hyperlink" similar to the following:

Drill Downs

Often, the first hyperlinked action grid will contain hyperlinks that lead to another action grid, and then another, and so on. You can continue hyperlinking in this manner through multiple "levels" of action grids until you reach one that has no further hyperlinks. This is called a "drill down". While the "drill" analogy usually refers to navigating a downward hierarchy, in HighViews you can begin a drill down from any action grid that has hyperlinks to any other action grid — up, down, sideways, any direction.

For example, the Product Balance action grid lets you drill down to view lot balances for a specific product, and then drill down further to see any activity within a specific lot. However, if you started with a hyperlink in the Lot Activity action grid instead, you would also be able to "drill down" to lot balances, and then to product balances.

"Drilling Up"

As mentioned earlier, each new level in a drill down is identified by the "Hyperlink" designation in the action grid heading. If the action grid is the product of a drill down, you will also be able to "drill up" using the Return or Back button located on the Information Bar in the bottom margin.

Exits the current level of a drill-down (if activated). The Back All (double arrow) and the Back (single arrow) buttons are activated (turn red) whenever the current action grid is the result of a drill-down invoked by hyperlinked data elements. If activated, you can use the Back button to exit one level of grid at a time. Use the Back All button to navigate out of all levels and return to the initial action grid.
