Business Benefits

A Cycle Count allows for a scheduled count of inventory to verify and (if necessary) adjust system stock levels to match actual stock levels. Since some products may "turn" (be received and shipped) more quickly than others, then it would be advantageous to count the faster moving stock more frequently.

A Cycle Count Class represents the period of time between cycle counts (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.) required for a specific client or client/product.

Note: For related documentation and workflows, see PI - Physical Inventory. For further information on how inventory is handled under ViewPoint Logistics, see Physical Inventory Overview.

Usage

This job is used to assign Cycle Count Classes to Client/Product combinations.

Preconditions

Cycle Count Classes must have been set-up in program PI.91 [Cycle Count Class].

Clients must also be defined in program CR.06 [Client Names and Addresses].

and Products set-up in program CR.62 [Client's Inventory Products].

Subsequent Actions

Cycle count classes, assigned to Client/Products in this program, will act as a default for new products created in program CR.62 [Client's Inventory Products].

Since it is possible to attach a cycle count class to all products for a specific client, it is not necessary to attach individual cycle count classes to existing products. This feature is especially useful if a client requires only one cycle count class for all its products.
