RF.01: Option 02 - Bulk Receiving
Table of Contents
Business Benefits
The Radio Frequency (RF) system provides Operators using hand-held RF devices with the ability to access specific functions.
Bulk receiving is typically used to expedite the receiving of Unit and Conveyance IDs. Users need only scan the Unit or Conveyance ID and location.
Note: For other RF01-related documentation see RF01 - RF Menu.
Usage
Once a receipt has been created, then an RF operator may begin scanning Unit or Conveyance IDs and their putaway locations using RF.01 [R.F. Menu] - Bulk Receiving.

Preconditions
1. Advance Shipment Notification.
In-Transit information must exist and have been created in RE.11 [In-Transit Receipts]. All Lot Codes and IDs must be fully identified.
2. Acknowledge arrival of In-Transit
A Receipt Header must be created and associated upon arrival of an In-Transit using option RE.21 [Receipts].
Subsequent Actions
Upon completion of Bulk Receiving a Receipt may be viewed with:
RE.21 [Receipts]
OR.41 [Receipt Information]
RE.22 [Receipts - Print]
RE.41 [Open Receipts Report]or rated with option
RE.31 [Receipt Invoices].
List of Features
1. Receiving across MULTIPLE Receipts
An RF operator making use of the Bulk Receiving option need not identify each receipt. The system will recognize the Receipt (as well as the Client, Product, etc.) from the ID scanned. If each in-transit is associated with a single receipt then operators may receive across multiple receipts.
In the event that an In-Transit is associated with multiple Receipts then the RF operator may select an appropriate Receipt to receive stock. The selected receipt becomes the default receipt until changed by a operator to another valid/open receipt.
2. Unexpected IDs - Do NOT receive Stock
Any IDs that arrive that are unexpected (i.e., not identified on the In-Transit) may be recorded as exceptions (i.e., ID and location entered) but NOT received into inventory. The exceptions may then be viewed with option RF.11 [R.F. Exception Report].
After viewing this report Clients are typically contacted to determine the disposition of the stock; e.g., receive, ship back, etc.
This feature is activated in the following job:
RF.92 [Receiving - Default Parameters]
Set Field 34 - Record Exceptions in RF.01
Bulk Receiving = "Y".
3. Unexpected IDs - Receive Stock
Any IDs that arrive that are unexpected (i.e., not identified on the In-Transit) may be received into inventory (i.e., by scanning or recording the associated stock details).
To activate this feature use the following job:
RF.92 [Receiving - Default Parameters]
Set Field 34 - Record Exceptions in RF.01 Bulk
Receiving = "N".
4. Receipt Closure
In the event that an In-Transit is associated with multiple receipts operators may inadvertently receive stock to an incorrect receipt. To minimize this scenario a receipt may be "closed" upon the printing of any format of the report option RE.22 [Receipts - Print].
At this point, stock may no longer be received using either RF.01 [R.F. Menu] - Bulk Receiving or RF.01 [R.F. Menu] - Single Receiving. However, stock may still be receiving via the "RE" system (e.g., RE.21/31). This feature is activated in the following job:
RF.99 [R.F. System Parameters]
Set Field 9 - Close Receipt via RE.22 = "Y"
5. Automatic Holds
In the event that specific stock must always be placed on hold when it arrives then the Bulk Receiving option will automatically recognize and attach the appropriate hold. A operator may also move back to the Hold field and either change or remove the hold.
Automatic Holds are defined in the job OR.22 [Holds - Set up Automatic].
6. Remarks
If remarks are attached to the ID's In-Transit or Receipt then the system will display an "*" just below the displayed Receipt number. To view a remark the operator may press the F2 key from the Quantity field and then select whether to view remarks from the In-Transit and/or Receipt.
7. Message - Expected and Received Stock Match
In the event that a operator (or operators) receive ALL of the expected stock associated with a specific In-Transit (i.e., the exact products, lots, quantities and IDs) then the system will display a message that states "Entries balanced for Receipt XXXXXX".
Note: This feature is ONLY available when a Receipt is linked to ONE In-Transit.
8. Message - Expected & Received Stock do NOT Match
In the event that a operator (or operators) do NOT receive ALL of the expected stock associated with a specific In-Transit (i.e., the exact products, lots, quantities and IDs) then the system will display a message that states "Discrepancies exist for Receipt XXXXXX".
This message will appear if discrepancies exist and the operator attempts to exit the Bulk Receiving option to begins receiving stock for another Receipt.
Note: This feature is ONLY available when a Receipt is linked to ONE In-Transit.
9. Message - EDI Sent for Receipt
In the event that an Electronic Data Interchange transaction is sent (e.g., a 944) to a Client containing details of stock received on a Receipt then the system will display a message (and enforce) that no further stock may be received for that Receipt.
10. Receiving Mixed Pallets
RF Bulk receiving has been enhanced to allow mixed items on the same conveyance. Each inbound conveyance may contain multiple items, containing both unit ID and non-unit ID products.
