RF.01: Option 05 - Pick Order
Table of Contents
Business Benefits
The Radio Frequency (RF) system provides Operators using hand-held RF devices with the ability to access specific functions.
When using this option the system will ensure that RF users pick ordered stock that has been allocated/reserved for specific lots and locations. This assists with proper stock rotation (e.g., first-in first-out) so stock does not expire, that the warehouse ships lots requested by clients/customers and also reduces/eliminates inefficient warehouse practices (e.g., honeycombing - by activating an option to empty as many locations as possible during the location reservation process).
Note: For other RF01-related documentation see RF01 - RF Menu.
Usage
This option determines whether the specified RF operator may pick "Allocated" orders. Allocated orders require pickers to select stock from specific reserved lots and locations. The system will ensure that the picker only selects valid stock. If activated, the user may select an order and/or pick in the following sequences.
- Order Line (a product/lot on a order)
- Client (display orders by Client)
- Product (display orders by Client/Product)
- Location (display orders by Location)
- To Conveyance (pick stock to a Conveyance)
Preconditions
The following must be performed before using the Pick Order option:
OE.01 [Enter Orders (Shipping)]
Stock MUST be allocated at the Lot level.
OE.03 [Print Shipping Documents]
Stock must be allocated at the location level.
Subsequent Actions
The following is a list of the some of the tasks that are typically performed AFTER the Pick Order option:
RF.01 [R.F. Menu] (Load Verify)
RF.55 [Shipment ID Report]
OE.03 [Print Shipping Documents] (Bill of Lading)
OE.20 [Confirm or Modify Shipments]
List of Features
1. Pick to Conveyance
This option allows users to pick reserved stock and then place it in/on an identified shipment conveyance (e.g., a pallet with a barcoded license plate label). This feature is available for inventory tracked at both the unit id and non-unit id (aka normal) level.
2. Default Shipment Conveyance Object
If the user selects the "Pick to Conveyance" option then he/she will record the Shipment Conveyance ID before specifying the stock details (i.e., the product, lot, quantity, etc.). The system will automatically determine and set the "best" default Conveyance object by finding the first "match" from the following list (i.e., with a being better than b and b beter than c).
Note: The user may always override the default Shipment Conveyance Object.
-
CR.11 Conveyances - Option # 1 (Conveyance Object Definition)
Looks for records with Field 4 - Shipment Conveyance = "Y" Note that the system selects first Object with Field 4 = "Y". -
RF.99 [R.F. System Parameters] - Specific Warehouse
Checks for a Specific Warehouse definition and if it matches the Order's nominal Warehouse, uses Field 13 - Conveyance Object for Picking. -
RF.99 [R.F. System Parameters] - All Warehouses
Looks for record defined for "ALL" Warehouses, if so uses Field # 13 - Conveyance Object for Picking
