Business Benefits

The Radio Frequency (RF) system provides Operators using hand-held RF devices with the ability to access specific functions.

This option reduces the instances of shipping the wrong stock for requested orders. The system will ensure that the user only loads stock that has been picked for the order and is loaded/moved to the correct stage/dock door location where the outbound carrier is awaiting to transport/ship the stock.

Note: For other RF01-related documentation see RF01 - RF Menu.

Usage

After ordered stock has been picked and staged warehouse staff may use this option to indicate which order will be loaded onto a carrier. Prior to physically loading the carrier RF users scan the stock (e.g. by unit id, conveyance id, product/lot, etc.). In the event that the scanned stock has NOT been picked for the order being loaded the system will display a warning message. As valid stock is loaded onto the carrier the system will update and display a "percent complete" status for the order. The system will also ensure that the picked stock is moved/loaded to the correct stage/dock location that represents the outbound carrier.

Preconditions

Create a Regular Order using OE.01 [Enter Orders (Shipping)]. Note that lots may be allocated or unallocated (i.e., have no lot components or only some specified during order entry)

Print the Pick Slip using OE.03 [Print Shipping Documents].

Pick the entire Order using one of the jobs below. All stock on the order must be "staged" (e.g., moved from storage to a dock location) before it may be verified for loading/shipment.

RF.01 [R.F. Menu] - Pick Order - Note that this option is used to pick allocated stock (i.e., lot/location reserved)
RF.01 [R.F. Menu] - Unallocated Pick

Subsequent Actions

Following is a partial list of tasks that may be performed after "Verifying the Load":

  • Print the Bill of Lading in OE.03 [Print Shipping Documents].
  • Perform an Inquiry on Load Verifications RF.01 [R.F. Menu]. On the RF.01 menu select the "Inquiry" and then "Load Verification" options.
  • View the status of the Order in job OR.40 [Order Information].

List of Features

1. Order Summary (Header Screen)

System will displays total pieces and IDs; e.g., Conveyances and Units to be loaded onto the carrier for the selected order.

2. Move "To" Location

System will prompt user to scan/record the location of the Carrier (e.g., a dock door) to which to scan/move the ordered and picked stock to ship.

3. Verification Modes

By ID
- Conveyances
- Units

Non-ID (not as fast as the ID mode)
- Normal Stock

4. Completion Status

System displays a percentage completion of order "loaded" successfully onto the carrier. Also displays the last correct ID (e.g., Conveyance or Unit) loaded to the dock location/carrier

5. Enforce Holds During Shipping Cycle

In the event that a Blanket Hold has been placed on stock AFTER an Order was created then the system may be configured to PREVENT the loading of a carrier with the Load Verification option. This feature ensures that stock placed on hold is not inadvertently shipped.

This feature is defined in the job CR.57 [Hold Codes], set Field 11.2 - Allow Load Verify = "N"

6. Load Multiple IDs

It is possible to scan multiple IDs (i.e., Units and Conveyances) before scanning the Dock Door to which they are being loaded/moved. As each ID is scanned the system will ensure that it belongs to the Order.

To activate this feature run the job RF.96 [Client and Product Parameters], set Field # 3 to the maximum number of IDs that may be scanned before scanning the dock door location.
