Business Benefits

The Radio Frequency (RF) system provides Operators using hand-held RF devices with the ability to access specific functions.

This option reduces the time and cost associated with picking Orders. Rather than picking each Order separately, warehouse staff may simultaneously pick stock for multiple Orders; e.g., make one trip to a location and pick stock for 4 orders rather than 1.

Note: For other RF01-related documentation see RF01 - RF Menu.

Usage

This option may be used to pick "Normal" stock (i.e., Non-Unit IDs) for allocated Orders reserved at both the lot and location level. After the user selects the Master Order the system will display the reserved locations from which to pick the required stock. If the stock resides in/on an identified Conveyance (e.g., a Pallet with a barcoded label/license plate) then the user may scan the Conveyance and the system will verifiy that it contains the correct stock.

Preconditions

Prior to using this option the following tasks must be performed.

  1. Create Regular Orders and allocate/reserve stock at the lot level - OE.01 [Enter Orders (Shipping)]
  2. Attach the Regular Orders to a Master Order - OE.81 [Master Pick Document]
  3. Schedule the Master Order to reserve stock at the location level and also print the Master Pick Slip - OE.02 [Master Orders - Allocate Stock]

Subsequent Actions

In the event that orders need to be changed (e.g., stock added) then perform the following tasks:

  1. Add to the individual Order, OE.28 [Modify Shipments]
  2. Re-schedule the Master Order, OE.02 [Master Orders - Allocate Stock]
  3. Pick the additional stock, RF.01 [R.F. Menu] (Master Order Pick)

Typically the following steps are performed after the Master Order has been completely picked.

  1. Print Individual Bills of Lading, OE.03 [Print Shipping Documents]
  2. Confirm Shipment of all Orders associated with the Master Order, OE.20 [Confirm or Modify Shipments]
Note: Select "M" in Field 4.

List of Features

1. Multiple Products/Lots on a Conveyance

If multiple products and lots, that are required by the Master Order, reside in/on a scanned Conveyance then the system will display this stock and its respective quantities. A user may then pick all or none of the specific Products and Lots. In most cases this allows a user to pick all of the stock from a Pallet after scanning the Conveyance ID only ONCE (as opposed to scanning the ID multiple times for each different product/lot).

2. Loose Stock and Product Validation

If the required stock is "loose" (i.e., NOT in/on a Conveyance) then the user has the option of "scanning" the Product code (e.g., a barcoded UPC) to verify that the correct stock is being picked and specifying a quantity picked (e.g., 1 for each "piece" or some other quantity).

3. Pick Stock from an Un-reserved Location

It is also possible to pick from a different location other than the originally reserved location IF the stock selected is the SAME product and lot as requested on the Master Order.
