Business Benefits

The Radio Frequency (RF) system provides Operators using hand-held RF devices with the ability to access specific functions.

This option assists in ensuring that ALL of the Products picked for a specific Order are packed and (optionally) allows for printing of labels for the packed stock (e.g. 1 label per Carton).

Note: For other RF01-related documentation see RF01 - RF Menu.

Usage

After specifying the Order the user will scan the product Code (e.g., a UPC) being packed (e.g. into a Carton). The system will then ensure the Product belongs to the Order and decrease the quantity to be packed.

Based on the configuration of the system in job RF.95 [Packing Parameters] users may scan EACH piece, or, after scanning the product code, manually enter the quantity being packed.

The user will also indicate when the Carton has been closed (i.e. after it is full) and has the option to delete the last product packed at which point the system will reduce the quantity packed. Finally, if the user is scanning each piece then they may use the "Override Mode" to begin packing multiple pieces of a specific product.

After each carton is closed the system may prompt the user to print any appropriate labels (e.g. an MH10 label with an Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC) for each Carton).

The system will assign the SSCC to each Carton at the time of printing the labels. After the labels are printed a user will then attach the labels to the appropriate Carton.

Preconditions

Prior to Packing, an Order must have been Created and Picked. Following is a list of the options used to accomplish these tasks.

  1. Create an Order using OE.01 [Enter Orders (Shipping)].
  2. Print the Pick Slip with OE.03 [Print Shipping Documents].
  3. Set Order Status required for Packing OE.12 [Order Status - Update] (Optional). Note that this status is defined in RF.95 [Packing Parameters] - Field 6.
  4. Pick the Order with any of the following:

    RF.01 [R.F. Menu] - Master Order
    RF.01 [R.F. Menu] - Pick Order
    RF.01 [R.F. Menu] - Unallocated Picking

Note: Picking before Packing may be Mandatory or optional. It is configured in RF.95 [Packing Parameters] - Field 8.

Subsequent Actions

Any of the following would be steps performed after an Order is Packed:

RF.01 [R.F. Menu] - Load Verify
OE.03 [Print Shipping Documents] - Bill of Lading
OE.20 [Confirm or Modify Shipments] - Modify Order

List of Features

1. Attachment of Charges

Charges and other information may be attached to an Order during RF Packing. The charges that may be attached (for a specific or all Clients) may be selected with RF.57 [Packing Charges Configuration].

2. Unit ID - Validation

Unit ID stock may be packed and the IDs validated with CR.21 [Serial Number Validation].

3. Master Packs

During packing, if the user indicates that they packing "Master Packs" then the system will recognize when the carton contains a Master Pack quantity (e.g., 6 pieces of Product "A") and automatically "close" the carton. Also, the system will NOT allow the user to close a carton if the number of pieces in the carton are less or more than the Master Pack Quantities.

Master Pack products and quantities are defined in CR.62 [Client’s Inventory Products] - Field 55 Packaging.
