Business Benefits
To assist in the shipment and receiving of stock from warehouse/distribution centers to its final destination (i.e., a customer/consignee) product is often placed on/in a conveyance (e.g., a wooden pallet) that bears a label containing a barcoded identifier. The ID is typically scanned by the customer to rapidly record the conveyance contents into their inventory.
In the event that the stock on conveyances needs to be adjusted (consolidated onto fewer pallets, placed on more pallets, etc.) because of carrier volume restrictions (e.g., smaller than anticipated) or other considerations, then this option may be used to perform this task.
Note: For related documentation and workflows, see RF - Radio Frequency.
Usage
Ordered stock that has been picked from storage and "placed" on a shipment conveyance may be moved to another existing or new conveyance.
Note: Some or all stock on a conveyance may be moved to one or more different conveyances or a different location.
After the move is completed the system will attach the following status to the Order
"K5 - RF50 Conv Update"
This status may be viewed in the job/option OR.40 [Order Information] - Option # 5 - Status.
Features: Automatic identification of Original Storage Conveyances
An Original Storage Conveyance refers to the Conveyance from which stock was originally picked. For a number of clients this information is critical for their internal inventory tracking and costing purposes. This information is updated automatically by the system.
After stock is placed on a Shipment Conveyance it is almost impossible for a user to determine its Original Storage Conveyance. The system will perform this task in the following manner.
Scenario: Stock picked to a Shipment Conveyance
Shipment Conveyance: OUT-908732 | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
Product | Lot | Quantity | Storage Conveyance | Quantity |
ABC | 123 | 100 | IN-46752 | 60 |
IN-46753 | 40 | |||
DEF | 456 | 50 | IN-20098 | 25 |
IN-20100 | 25 |
If a user were to move a quantity of 75 cases of Product "ABC" and Lot "123" from Shipment Conveyance "OUT-098732" to Shipment Conveyance "OUT-599855" then the system would automatically choose the Original Storage Conveyances for the user.
Shipment Conveyance: OUT-599855 | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
Product | Lot | Quantity | Storage Conveyance | Quantity |
ABC | 123 | 100 | IN-46752 | 60 |
IN-46753 | 15 |
In this scenario the system will ALWAYS take as much stock as possible from the "lowest" Original Storage Conveyance ID code; e.g., all stock from IN-46752 and then the remaining 15 from the next lowest Conveyance ID of IN-46753.
Preconditions
Prior to using this option the following steps must be performed.
OE.01 [Enter Orders (Shipping)]
OE.03 [Print Shipping Documents]
RF.01 [R.F. Menu]
Typically, stock is picked and placed in/on a Conveyance with the "Pick to Conveyance" or "Unallocated Picking" option within the RF.01 job.
Conveyance IDs must also be related to an Order that has been completely picked (i.e. the stock has been "dropped" to a stage/dock location). Specifically the Order must have (or had) a status of "F5 - Pick Confirmed" before stock on associated Conveyances may be moved.
Note: The "F5" status is ONLY set by the following jobs:
RF.01 [RF Menu] - Pick Order
RF.01 [RF Menu] - Unallocated Pick
The status of an Order may be viewed in the following job:
OR.40 [Order Information] - Option # 5 - Status
Subsequent Actions
The following are typical tasks performed after stock in/on Conveyances is moved to other Conveyances or locations.
OR.40 [Order Information] - Option # 5 - Status
RF.55 [Shipment ID Report]
OR.53 [Loose Stock Report]
OE.03 [Print Shipping Documents] - Bill of Lading
OE.20 [Confirm or Modify Shipments]
