Business Benefits
With a variety of Operators using the Radio Frequency equipment, you may wish to control what each Operator does. For example, you may wish to limit one person to receiving stock, another to picking stock, etc. This program allows you to identify the RF Operators and what, if any, restrictions you wish to impose.
Note: For related documentation and workflows, see RF - Radio Frequency.
Usage
Use this job to set up Radio Frequency Operators and the associated functions that they are allowed to perform.
Preconditions
Operator codes must have been created initially in program Z0 MC.82 [Operators].
Warehouse Code must be setup in program WP.11 [Warehouses]. Location Codes must be setup in SL.90 [Locations].
Subsequent Actions
Once an Operator has been set up, he/she may access the Radio Frequency system using RF equipment. On the RF Menu, each Operator will only see the functions specified in this program for their use.
The following tasks are also performed to expedite, control, and allow easier access to the system for each RF operator.
1. Quick Login
To enable ALL users (RF operators and others) to access the system with a single login and password (defined at the operating system level by your system administrator) access job Z0 MC.02 [This Installation's Parameters] and set Field # 8 - Quick Login = "Y".
Note: If Quick Login is NOT enabled then users will need to log in twice (i.e., with their O/S and Maves logins)
2. Set RF User's Initial Job to RF01
After an RF user successfully logs in the system will (by default) display the menu of defined companies/business units. If the user has logged into the system with a small screen RF device (e.g., 21 columns x 16 rows) then they will be unable to view all their menu choices or the cursor since this menu is displayed as a full screen (i.e. 80 columns x 24 rows).
Rather than force the RF user to "blindly" navigate from the main menu to the RF.01 menu (that displays various RF options - e.g. Bulk Receiving, etc.) an initial job may be defined for each RF operator with job Z0 MC.85 [Operator Preferences] and set Field # 12 - Initial Job = "XXRF01".
Note: The "XX" represents the company in which the RF user will access the RF system.
3. Remove access to the Operating System
Based upon user configuration it is possible for RF users (and other) to gain access to the Operating system after logging in or out . Note: A "$" or "#" prompt will appear if a user is in the O/S. Once a user has access to the operating system he/she has the capability to add, modify and delete configurations that may potentially damage or render a machine's system unusable. Rather than expose the system to this risk it is possible to prevent user from accessing the O/S by modifying the contents of the following user specific file
profile
This file must also be modified to include a command to invoke the Maves software. The command is similar to the following:
exec aim
Note: Contact Maves for the location of the .profile file and the exact syntax and location of the command in this file.
