Business Benefits

The Stock Locator system may be configured to select the "best" location(s) to put away product. To do so the system considers (among other things) only those locations that contain available space based on the dimensions of locations and products.

In addition to assisting with the "Active Putaway"function, Space Management allows the warehouse to maximize finite space usage and storage revenue.

Note: For related documentation and workflows, see SL - Stock Locator.

Usage

This job is used to activate Space Management Control.

Prior to activation it will also verify that dimensions (length, width, and height) have been defined for SL.81 [Storage Dimensions] and CR.62 [Client's Inventory Products].

A report will print displaying any storage locations or products with missing dimensions.

Space Management must be activated in order to enable Active Putaway with RF or to manage space utilization. Space Management does not need to be activated to use Verified Passive Putaway (VPP)

Preconditions

Run the following jobs prior to activating Space Management.

WP.11 [Warehouses]
SL.87 [Zones]
SL.78 [Storage Types / Type Profiles]
SL.81 [Storage Dimensions]
SL.80 [Popularity Codes and Profiles]
SL.82 [Separation Codes and Profiles]
SL.77 [Access Type]
SL.91 [Aisles - Create]
SL.92 [Aisle Sides - Create]
SL.93 [Column Characteristics]
SL.90 [Locations]
SL.88 [Client/Product Profiles-Assign]

Subsequent Actions

Active Putaway can only be enabled after Space Management has been activated. The next step is to run SL.98 [Active Putaway Setup].

Space Utilization can also seen in the inquiry program OR.47 [Location Space Inquiry].
