Business Benefits

This option reduces the time required to create locations since the user may instruct the system to automatically generate a group of locations with MULTIPLE and valid Tiers (rather than for EACH Tier).

See the "Usage" section on how this is accomplished.

Note: For related documentation and workflows, see SL - Stock Locator.

Usage

A Tier is typically a "level" in a bay/column of a racked location; e.g. 01 through 03, A to D, etc. Multiple Tiers may be linked to a "Tier Code" which represents a group of like locations; e.g. in part of the warehouse there are racked locations with 4 tiers known as "A", "B", "C" and "D".

During the generation of multiple locations the user may select a Tier Code to instruct the system to build locations with specific and valid Tiers.

Example:

Building locations for ...

Aisle: 01
Side: W (West)
Columns: 001 to 030 (Column Code "30" = 001 to 030)
Tiers: A to D (Tier Code "4" = Tiers A to D)

After the user selects Tier Code "4" the system will ONLY build locations with Tiers A to D.

Locations generated by the System:

01W001A, 01W001B, 01W001C, 01W001D,
01W002A, 01W002B, 01W002C, 01W002D,
01W003A, 01W003B, 01W003C, 01W003D, etc.

Explanation of the Location Code 01W001A:

Aisle: 01
Side: W (West)
Column: 001
Tier: A

Preconditions

Determine whether you require a specific list of valid tier codes for a range of locations. For example, all racked locations have three levels; i.e., "A", "B" and "C".

Subsequent Actions

Optionally you may "Map" your actual/visual locations to the system's internal locations.

For more information on this process consult the on-line help for the following option SL.85 [Visual Location].

To generate a series of location use the following option SL.90 [Locations].
