Business Benefits
Columns are specific areas within an "Aisle". Their use expedites picking since warehouse staff need not "search" a larger area for specific stock.
A Column may represent multi-tiered racking, a bulk bay that only accommodates floor storage, a tank in a row, etc.
Characteristics (i.e., starting column number, interval and number of columns) may also be used to generate a range of locations at once.
Note: For related documentation and workflows, see SL - Stock Locator.
Usage
Use this program to define column characteristics. At least one column characteristic must be defined in order to generate multiple locations at once.
Preconditions
Determine the similar column characteristics in your operation.
Examples:
- Left side of all Aisles are Odd Numbered
- Right side of all Aisles are Even Numbered
- No aisle exceeds 25 Columns
- 3 Aisles only use 10 Columns
Typically the following programs are run prior to defining Columns Characteristics:
WP.11 [Warehouses]

SL.81 [Storage Dimensions]
SL.80 [Popularity Codes and Profiles]

SL.91 [Aisles - Create]
SL.92 [Aisle Sides - Create]
Subsequent Actions
