Business Benefits
In most operations, there is a variety of Products which may be measured in different ways (cases, drums, rolls, etc.). This program allows you to define these different Measuring Units for use in the system.
Note: For related documentation and workflows, see WP - Warehouse Profile.
Usage
Use this program to maintain and print Units of Charge.
These Units of Charge are referenced by program CR.22 [Storage, Handling, Other Rates] to calculate specific Charges such as Handling, Storage, and any other Special Charges that you may use.
The program also maintains an authorized list of Stockkeeping Units, (SKU's), identifying the manner in which Inventory Products are held in stock (Case, Drum, Roll, etc.).
Anytime you must charge a Client for any reason, or anytime you must identify the Unit in which Stock is kept, the Unit of Measure for that Charge or Product must be set up in this program. This program defines all Measuring Units used in the system. It tells the system how many pounds there are in a CWT, or kilograms in a TON. It identifies whether a Charge will be applied each time a situation occurs, or by how much Weight is being handled.
The file maintained by the program is vital to all Rates and Product codes; therefore you should be very careful when working with it. You must realize, when changing a record in this file, that the change will impact all records utilizing that Measuring Unit. For example, if you change the number of pounds in a Ton, all Products and Client Charge calculations using that Measuring Unit will be changed accordingly.
Preconditions
Determine the various Measuring Units that you have used for your Clients in the past.
Select a meaningful code for each different Measuring Unit that you require.
Client codes must be set up in program CR.06 [Client Names and Addresses].
and Product codes in program CR.62 [Client's Inventory Products].
Subsequent Actions
The Measuring Unit code will be assigned to each in Field 10 (Stockkeeping Unit) of program CR.62 [Client's Inventory Products] and in Field 14 (Charge Per) of program CR.22 [Storage, Handling, Other Rates].
