Business Benefits

Periodically you will wish to purge life-to-date Activity history from the file, when it is no longer necessary. This program allows you to identify the range of Activity history to be deleted.\

Note: For related documentation and workflows, see IC - Inventory Control.

Usage

Use this job to purge life-to-date Activity history, either for a specific Warehouse or all Warehouses, by specifying a limiting date.

This program is similar to program IC.11 [Life-to-D ate Expired Lots Rept], except that it is not concerned with the Lot file and whether a Lot is at a zero balance.

Program IC.01 does not remove Lot records; it only removes Movement Activity records. Because of this, you are advised to run program IC.11 for the same date specified in IC.01; otherwise you may have Lot records that are at a zero balance (with no remaining Movement records), thereby cluttering the system needlessly.

If your only intention is to remove Activity records when a Lot has reached a zero balance, use program IC.11 only --- do not run program IC.01 at all!

Since program IC.01 can remove old Movement records as you instruct, the concept of life-to- date is altered in that, once program IC.01 is run, various Lots will not have all the Activity remaining in the system since the inception of the Lot.

Preconditions

Life-to-date history is retained in the system only for those Clients with field 14 (Lot History Retention) set to L in program CR.18 [Client Arrangements].

Subsequent Actions

Since program IC.01 does not remove Lot records, you are advised to run program IC.11 [Life-to-Date Expired Lots Rept] for the same date specified in IC.01; otherwise you may have Lot records that are at a zero balance (with no remaining Movement records), thereby cluttering the system needlessly.
