Business Benefits

Some Clients may require a Shelf Life report to be printed on a regular basis. The purpose of this report is to identify Lots that are approaching their expiry date. As the expiry date gets closer, the system places the Lot into a succession of 'critical' statuses. For instance, if there are less than 90 days of shelf life remaining, the Lot receives a critical status of 1, if there are less than 45 days left a status of 2, etc. This program generates this report for you.

Usage

Use this job to print the Shelf Life Critical report, identifying the status of various Lots depending on how long they have been in storage.

Only Products set up in the Critical Status file will print.

The program compares the system date with the expiry date on each Product. It then looks at the Product's critical status table.

The program first calculates the remaining shelf life by subtracting today's date from the expiry date.

Examples:

If today is March 1 and the expiry date is May 15, the shelf date is 76 days (rightmost column).

The program then determines which critical status applies to the Lot.

Critical Status

1 = 90 2 = 60 3 = 30 4 = 0

In this example, the Lot falls into critical status 1; 76 is less than 90 days, but more than 60.\

Finally the program calculates the number of days remaining in the status.

In this example, 76 - 60 = 16 days remain within status 1 before the Lot will fall into status 2. So the program will print the number
16 in the column titled Critical 1.

Had the shelf life remaining been 50 days, the critical status would have been 2 and the number of days remaining would have been 50 - 30 = 20 days. This number would print in the column titled Critical 2.

Once the expiry date is passed, the shelf days left will print as negative numbers.

Only Lots within the range of Critical 1 show on the report. In the example, a shelf life of 91 days or greater does not print.

Preconditions

Shelf Life 'critical' parameters must have been set up in program CR.66 [Maintain Product Shelf Life].

Subsequent Actions

Based on the information in this report, you may need to follow up on Products that are approaching the more 'critical' stages (ie. expiry or spoilage).
