Business Benefits
Once an Order is ready for shipment, it may be necessary to print Labels for that Order. This program prints these Labels for Clients and Products designated as requiring Labels.
Usage
Use this job to print Shipping Labels for all or a range of Orders.
Two types of Labels may be printed.
1 - Pre-defined Labels (via e-Z Ware)
These labels display pre-selected Order data and in a pre-defined and specific format/layout.
2 - User-defined Labels (via Label-View)
These labels are designed by a user with the third party and PC-based product "Label-View". The appearance of these labels is totally controlled by the designer (e.g., a Maves user or Maves employee) and may contain any data attached to the order and be displayed in various fonts and barcodes (dependent on the printer - which is typically a barcode label printer).
Printers
- Predefined Labels. These labels will be output to the printer selected in OE.07.
-
User Defined Labels. These labels will NOT normally be output to the printer selected in OE.07. Instead these labels will be routed to the printer attached to the User-Defined Label in the following Job LI.85 [MH10 Label Entry - Orders] Field # 3 - Printer Name (e.g., ZEBRA - defined in Windows).
Note: The above printer is typically attached to the PC where the third party product "Label View" resides.
Note: For related documentation and workflows, see OE - Order Entry.
Preconditions
PRE-DEFINED label codes must have been set up in program WP.79 [Shipping Label Printing], completing all four fields.
The printing of Labels is determined in Field 40 (Print Labels for Orders) in program CR.18 [Client Arrangements] for Products that have a non-zero/non-blank entry in Field 82 (SKU/Unit Label) and Field 83 (Label Copies) of program CR.62 [Client's Inventory Products].
Orders must have been entered in program OE.01 [Enter Orders (Shipping)].
USER-DEFINED label codes are defined/used as follows:
(Note: It is assumed that the LI - Label Interface system is already configured and active. If not then please review the LI system documentation before proceeding with these instructions.)
- Create a label code definition in LI.89 [Picking Label Client Setups]
Set Field # 4 - Print Sequence = "O" (Order Header). - Indicate Client requires User-Defined Labels in CR.18 [Client Arrangements]
Set Field # 40 - Labels for Orders = "O"(Print Labels in program OE.07)
Set Field # 40.1 - Label Format Code = "LV"(Label-View)
Set Field # 40.2 - Allow Changes to Quantity = "2" or "3" (to change # of labels in OE.07) - Create an Order in OE.01 [Enter Orders (Shipping)]
- Select "Label View" labels for printing in OE.07 [Print Shipping Labels]
Set Field # 1 - Label Type = "LV" (Label-View)
Set field # 10 - Order Numbers
After selecting the Label Type and Order(s) then:
- The system will default the number of labels to print for each Order to ONE
- A user may change the number of labels to print for specific/all Orders
Subsequent Actions
Once the Labels have been printed, you may attach them to the corresponding Product, prior to shipment.
