WP - Warehousing Profiles
WP applications are used in the VL Warehouse Management System to define warehouses, default warehousing rules, and client-related attributes. Some of the tasks performed under warehousing profiles include:
- Setting up each warehouse that is to be handled by the system,
- Establishing default values for Client and Inventory file building (e.g., Charge Rates, Billing Schemas),
- Defining the style of Warehouse operation (i.e., multi-lotted, single lotted),
- Ensuring that all files are present when the system starts up.
After ViewPoint Logistics is installed, WP applications are used to record a Company’s best/required business practices that relate to Application Systems and Features, Transaction Processing Rules and Capabilities and Client Attributes.
Once the WP settings have been completed they will act as “Defaults” to expedite the definition of specific Client requirements and assist with selecting the most appropriate application action.
The information relating to the WP system is typically recorded “once” (with help from a Maves’ Consultant/Trainer) and is based upon a “Site Survey Report” that was created prior to the installation of ViewPoint Logistics. This report contains details on current warehousing practices and suggestions on how VL may be configured (via the WP).
As Clients’ needs change various WP settings may be activated or modified to best meet the requirements.
For a list of the terms associated with warehousing profiles and other applications in the Warehouse Management System, see Warehouse Terminology.
