1. Purpose

Configure the system to support blast or quick-freezing of inbound stock—defining the necessary storage zones, holds, rate codes, and billing profiles so that temperature-controlled items flow correctly through the warehouse and billing processes.

3. Step-by-Step Process

Decision: Is Blast/Quick Freezing Required? 🔷

Evaluate whether any inbound product lines need rapid freezing upon receipt.

SL.86: Define Storage Zone Code(s) for Blast/Quick Freezing 🟨

  • Create one or more “Freezing Zones” in the system (e.g. FZ1, BlastFreeze) to represent physical blast tunnels or quick-freeze bays.

SL.90: Assign Blast/Quick Freezing Storage Zone(s) to Locations 🟨

  • Map each defined Freezing Zone code to the specific warehouse locations (aisles, racks, freezer docks) where the rapid-freeze equipment resides.

CR.22: Define Blast/Quick Freezing Rate Break Code 🟨

  • Establish a billing rate break code (unit type “R” for recorded temperature) that will apply whenever stock is processed through these freezing zones.

CR.57: Create a Physical Hold Code for Freezing 🟨

  • Configure a “Freezing Hold” that can be applied to inbound lots—preventing put-away or picking until the freeze step is complete.

CR.63: Select Receipt Temperature-Blasting Option in Billing Profile 🟨

In the client’s billing profile, enable the “Temperature Blast” option and link:

  • The freezing rate break code (from CR.22)
  • The physical hold code (from CR.57)
  • Any required temperature thresholds or parameters

Consistent Coding: Use a clear naming convention (e.g. prefix FZ_) for all freezing-related master data.

Audit Holds: The physical hold (CR.57) ensures no stock skips the freeze step—validate hold release logic downstream.

Test Billing Profiles: After CR.63, run a test receipt through a sandbox client to confirm the freeze rate and hold behavior trigger correctly.
