Business Benefits

OSHA C.A.S. numbers are required by the system whenever a United Nations (UN) number is not available. This program allows you to maintain a valid list of technical descriptions. In order to save entering a large amount of information, this data may be obtained in electronic form and loaded into the system.

Note: For related documentation and workflows, see HM - Hazardous Materials.

Usage

C.A.S. numbers can either be entered manually or loaded electronically from tape.

Ingredients in a Product, and the percentage of an ingredient, along with the weight shipped, determine if it is reportable or not.

Further information on where to obtain this information is available under HM Setups and Procedures.

Preconditions

The C.A.S. numbers are made available from the government (see HM Setups and Procedures for further information).

Subsequent Actions

C.A.S. numbers are used in Field 30 of program HM.01 [Product Code Setup].
